Formerly called ward 4, the newly renamed Dene ward is unique in the recent remapping of Edmonton’s electoral wards as it is the only one that did not receive any boundary change. The name "Dene" means people of land and water. The ward extends from the Yellowhead Trail north as far as the city goes and from 66 Street east as far as the city boundary. This northeast Edmonton ward includes the Energy and Technology Park and part of Alberta's Industrial Heartland.
Communities and areas included in this ward are:
- Canon Ridge
- Clareview Town Centre
- Clove Bar Area
- Cy Becker
- Hollick Kenyon
- Horse Hill (Rural North East)
- Kennedale Industrial
- Matt Berry
- Sifton Park
- South Sturgeon (Rural North East)
